FOOD FOR KIDS OF AGE 3 TO 6 YEARS

As in my previous article, food for toddlers was mentioned. Might you all have liked it. Today in this article I am going to share with u few selected foods for kids of 3 to 6 age, which are very healthy especially in winter. Every parent wishes their child eats healthy food and stay fit. So it’s very important for a parent to create the healthy food habit of kid’s right from childhood itself. You have to create the healthy eating habit of your kids when they are developing the taste from different foods items. Children needs healthy food but with a balance diet from everything. Creating a healthy eating habit for kids from early age is the investment for their future. It will give healthy and happy futures for kids. As it is not easy to make a habit of eating healthy foods for kids from early age, you need patience but at least you can try. As efforts made don’t get wasted.

           *Don’t give a taste of junk food to kids in their childhood.
          *Make habit to give one fruit daily
          *Set a time for meal daily
          *If possible sit with your child to have breakfast/lunch/dinner.
         
   
    Here are some healthy recipes you can give your child in especially in winter:

1. Palak Puris:


      INGREDEIENTS:
         
      Wheat flour-1 cup
      Palak puree 1 cup
      Ginger chili paste-1 tsp
      Jeera -1 tsp
      Salt to taste
      Oil - 1 tsp
      Oil - 3 tbsp for frying

    METHOD

      * Take wheat flour add salt, ginger chili paste, jeera and oil and mix it nicely.
 

      * Now add palak puree and kneed it nicely and make paratha like dough. Cover it and Keep aside for 10 mins
       * Divide into equal portion.
       *Roll out each portion into circle puris.
       * Prick each puri with fork or knife
       * Then heat the oil and deep fry this puris till golden brown and crispy type and take it on kitchen tissue
 * Let it cool down and store it in air tight container.


2. Beetroot Puris:


   INGREDIENTS:

  Wheat flour-1cup
  Beet crushed or gratted-1 cup
  Ginger chili paste-1/2 tsp
  Jeera-1 tsp
  Ajwain-1/2 tsp
  Salt to taste
  Oil - ! tsp
  Oil-3 to 4 tbsp for frying

METHOD:

In a bowl mix wheat flour, jeera, ajwain,salt, ginger chilli paste and mix it well.
Add beet crushed or grated in it and make a paratha like dough and keep aside for 10 to 15 mins.
Divide into equal portion.
Roll out each portion into big paratha.
Now give shape with a cookies cutter any you like which is attractive for kids.
Now heat the oil and deep fry this puris till it becomes like balloon. and transfer it into kitchen tissues.
Serve with any healthy subji to kids.

3.Tomatoes flavored Banana chips:


INGREDIENTS:

Raw banana - 4 pcs
Tomato power - to taste
Oil for frying

METHOD:

* First of wash banana nicely and then dry it completely, then peal it.
*Now heat oil and then slow the flame and do slice of banana with slicer directly in hot oil.
 *Then increase the flame to high and stir nicely by changing the sides.
 *Fry till the bubbles of frying goes away and the chips turn to golden brown and crispy.
 *Then transfer the chips into kitchen tissues and sprinkle tomato power when the chips is hot and mix it nicely.
  *Store it in a air tighter container after it cools down.

****Tomato power:::::
                               Cut small pieces of tomatoes in a plate and put in full sunlight for 4 to 5 days and when it dries completely put this dried tomatoes in a mixture jar and add sugar and salt and slight amchur power in it and grind it to a fine power.. And sprinkle on any namkeens you like...

4. Healthy sukhadi:


INGREDEIENTS:

Wheat flour-1cup
Ragi flour-1/2cup
Ghee-2tbsp
Jaggery-3/4 cup
Coconut power-2 tsp
Dry fruits crushed or chopped (cashunuts, almond,pistachoes)-2 tsp

METHOD:

* Heat ghee in a thick bottom kadai or non stick pan adds wheat and ragi flour and mix nicely.
* Roast this flour till golden brown and a sweet smell comes out then takes off the gas.
*Let it come to room temperature means warm, then add jaggery, coconut power, dry fruits and mix it well.
*Grease a plate and transfer this mixture in that plate and spread evenly and now garnish it with coconut powder and chopped dry fruits.
 * After it cools down and then cut it into small pieces and feed your kids..
 It’s very healthy in winters for small children’s.

5. Dates and Fig rolls:


INGREDIENTS:

Soft black dates-1 cup
Half crushed dried figs-1cup
Ghee - 1tsp
Dry fruits (walnut-5 to10, almond-20 to 25, cashunut-15 to 20, pistachow-25 to 30)-1 tbsp
Coconut powder-1 tbsp

METHOD:

*Heat ghee in a kadai or nonstick pan and put finely chopped dates and fig into it and mix it well.
 *Stir it well till dates and fig becomes soft.
 *Add dry fruits and coconut powder to it and mix it to dough like consistence.
 *Now remove it from gas and mix it and let it cool for 5 min and make rolls from it.
 *Lastly coat the rolls with mixed dry fruits chopped or powder.
 *Store it in an air tight container and feed your kid every morning at least one roll..
  This recipe is used in winter and is very helpful in increasing hemoglobin.

HOME REMEDIES/MEDICINES FOR TODDLERS FROM COLD AND COUGH

Hello friends welcome back with a new topic on kids life. As now its winter time, lets talk about some home remedies for kids. When winter starts kids get affected with different types of diseases.All parents have some or their problems with their kids health. Its but obvious that small kids catches infections fast and are affected with the changing of weather. Sometimes kids are playing nicely and the next moment u see to your site that they start coughing as they are surrounded by more than 200 viruses. When temperature goes down, the number of kids falling sick goes up. So generally parents rush to the doctors and start different types of antibiotic medicines so that the child gets relief fast. Its right but to some extent. As this medicines has some or the other side effect which your child has to suffer in future. You should consult doctor but first should try home remedies, then after the dieses’ persist more than a week or two you surly visit doctors. Even doctors suggest not giving any antibiotic medicines to small kids until there is a critical situation. Comman cold and cough can be cured by some of simple home treatments.

Generally when any diseases start it has a very slow start so if u try to give home treatments its best and can be cured fast. Actually cold can take a few days to be cleared. Cold and cough is very common dieses in. kids as winter starts. It’s a irritating for kids to suffer all this. There are different types of cough:

* Dog barking coughing,,, which means when child cough a barking sound comes out of kids mouth...
* Another is dry coughing which means kid...s feel like coughing but its false they feel like coughing but actually kids are not able to cough properly.
* And other is a coughing with a chest full of cough...

Cold also disappears mostly in 7 to 10 days...Running nose is also a problems which mostly kids suffer....The fluid comes out of kids nose. It varies in colors’ from clear to white and yellowish to green. As it’s one of symptoms’ of common cold. Sometimes when kids cry to much then also this running of nose is started at that time also.This running nose further results to fever or cough or even sore throat, sneezing and also disturb sleep..So parents should have patience while treating the kids for this..With taking proper care and good attention you can quickly and effectively help your kids to get relief from all this infections..

**Here are some home remedies for kids...It is said that your kitchen is where you will get the medicines without any cost and without any side effects.

1.Ginger Juice:

Ginger is a best medicine in any kitchen. Ginger juice mixed with honey can be given to kids. But according to their age the quantity differs. For age:
At the age of 3 or 3 and half the quantity should be 1 small spoon or 1/2 big spoon,, and so the age increases u can increases the quantity...With this kids may over come
From cough and running nose..

2.GInger Balls/laddos:

Ginger powder can be mixed with jaggery and ghee and make small laddos/balls out of this mixture...This can be given to kids morning one and at night one...With
this kids can fight against infections and can help in cough also..

3.Elaichi+Laung[cloves]+cinnamon:

Take all this 3 in equal quantity and roast them on tawa with or without hole, let it get roasted till it burns. Then once its burnt fully put this in to mixture jar and crush it completely to make it a smooth powder, if u want u can also churn it with churn after crushing into a powder.. Now take a half tsp of this mixture and add honey and mix it well and give to kids..U can add a pinch of turmeric also if u like..This can be given to kids above 1year,, and its very effective When kids get coughing like dog barking coughing or dry coughing or if the chest is full of cough this mixture is very effective.
 
4.Ajwain+garlic potlis:

Roast 2 to 3 cloves of garlic and 1 to 2 tablespoon of ajwain on a thick tawa. Make it brown and you will get a powerful smell then let it cool down and transfer this both in a clean muslin or cotton cloth and tie it and make a poltis..Now tie this potlis in babies cradles or bed..This potli of garlic and ajwain smells will help babies to unblock the nose and get relief from cough..

5. Ajwain potli:

Roast 2 to 3 tbsp of ajwain on heavy bottom tawa for few minutes till u get burn smell. Now transfer this in muslin cloth and tie and make a potli..Tie this potli on babies’ chest with a thread around neck. This will help babies to get relieve from cough jammed in chest and blocked nose.

6. Turmeric milk:

Boil milk with turmeric mixed in it and let it come to room temperature means it should b warm and feed this to your babies ,,,it will help in cough and cold..

7.Rest:

Lots of rest is necessary for the kids suffering from cold, cough and running nose. As in this situation kids waste more and more energy while fighting disease with infections, so rest helps them to get more energy to fight against diseases...

8. Steam:

When a kid is complaining about any blockage of nose then steam is very helpful for them. Boil water and put Vicks vaporab in it and give steam to kids covering their head into the bowl of hot water..With this steam the blockage of nose and jammed cough can be cleaned and kids can breathe nicely..
